How should I evaluate the keyword suggestions this tool returns?
Score each suggestion on three axes: search intent match, realistic difficulty for your domain, and business value of the click. A high-volume keyword that attracts the wrong audience is worse than a low-volume one that converts. Cluster the suggestions by intent first, then by topic, and only then prioritise by volume. The best picks usually sit in the middle of the volume curve where competition is reasonable and intent is clear.
What is the difference between seed keywords and suggestions?
A seed is the broad term you start with, such as running shoes. Suggestions are the expansions Google and other sources associate with that seed: best running shoes for flat feet, running shoes under 100, and so on. Seeds define your topic universe; suggestions reveal how real people phrase their needs inside it. Always start with two or three seeds per topic to capture the full spread of related queries.
Should I target high-volume head keywords or many smaller ones?
For most sites, targeting 20-50 mid and long-tail suggestions converts far better than chasing a single head term. Long-tail queries are easier to rank for, signal clearer intent, and collectively can outpace a single head keyword in traffic and revenue. Reserve head keyword targeting for pillar pages that aggregate many sub-topics, and let the suggestions feed the supporting articles that link up to them.
How do I know if a suggested keyword matches my audience?
Search the keyword on Google and study the top ten results. If the SERP is dominated by content very different from what you would write, the intent does not match yours and ranking will be hard. Also check if results show product listings, videos, or how-to articles; Google has decided what searchers want, and you must match that format. If your page concept fits the SERP pattern, the keyword is a good candidate.
Why do some suggestions show high volume but no real traffic potential?
Volume estimates are averages and often inflated by branded searches, seasonal spikes, or zero-click features like People Also Ask boxes. A keyword may show 10,000 monthly searches but if Google answers it directly in a featured snippet, organic clicks could be under 5%. Always pair volume with click-through rate estimates and SERP feature analysis before committing to a target.
How many keyword suggestions should I target per page?
One primary keyword and three to five closely related secondary suggestions per page is the sweet spot. Going broader dilutes topical focus and confuses Google about what the page is about. The secondary keywords should be variations or sub-questions of the primary, not separate topics. Save unrelated suggestions for new pages, and use internal links to connect them into a coherent topic cluster.
