How do I blur a face or sensitive area in a photo?
Upload the photo, choose blur or pixelate as the censor style, then drag a rectangle around the area you want to hide. The blurred or pixelated overlay applies instantly, and you can resize or move the box if you misplace it. Add as many regions as you need, for example one over each face in a group photo. When you are happy, export the image as a PNG or JPG with the censoring permanently baked in.
What is the difference between blur and pixelate?
Blur smooths an area into a soft cloud of colour, which works well when you want to hide something without drawing attention to it. Pixelation breaks the area into large coloured squares, which is the more familiar look used in news footage. Pixelation is harder to reverse with image enhancement tools, so it is the safer choice for genuinely sensitive content like identity documents, licence plates or screen captures with private information.
Is the censoring permanent in the exported image?
Yes. When you click export the censored regions are flattened into the pixel data, so the result cannot be undone by removing a layer or filter. Anyone who receives the file only sees the blurred or pixelated version, exactly as it appears in your browser preview. Keep the original separately if you might need an unaltered copy later, because once the censored file is saved there is no way to recover the hidden content.
Can I censor multiple areas in a single photo?
Yes. You can draw as many censor rectangles as you like, each with its own size, position and intensity. This is helpful for group photos where every face should be hidden, or for screenshots with several pieces of information to redact. Individual boxes can be deleted, hidden temporarily or adjusted independently. When you export, all visible boxes are merged into the final image at once, so there is no need to repeat the process.
Does the censor tool upload my photo to a server?
No. The whole tool runs in your browser. Your photo is loaded into a canvas element, the censor regions are rendered on top, and the result is exported as a new file directly from your device. Nothing is sent over the internet, which is the right choice for any photo that contains personal data. You can use the tool offline once the page has loaded, since it does not need to talk to a server during the work.
Can I make the censored area more or less intense?
Yes. Each region has a strength slider that controls how much blur or how large the pixelation blocks should be. Light blur is good for subtle effects like hiding a brand logo, while a very strong setting completely obscures faces or text. The preview updates in real time, so you can dial in just the right amount. If you need different intensities for different areas, change the slider before drawing each new rectangle.
