How does Higher or Lower work?
A card is shown face up from a standard 52-card deck. You decide whether the next card drawn will be higher or lower in value than the current one. Click your prediction. If you are right, the new card becomes the reference and you continue. Your streak builds with each correct call, and one wrong guess ends the round.
Are the cards drawn from a real deck?
Each round uses a freshly shuffled 52-card deck, so cards are drawn without replacement. This means the deck thins out as you play and the probabilities shift in your favour or against you. Suits do not matter, only the rank from Ace low through King high. Once the deck is exhausted, the round ends as a perfect run.
What happens on a tie?
If the next card is the exact same rank as the current card, the round counts it as neither higher nor lower and you keep your streak intact. The new card becomes the reference and play continues. This is rare, but knowing it can happen helps when you face a 7 and would rather not lock in either direction.
Any tips to maximise my streak?
Always pick higher on a 2 and lower on a King. For middle ranks like 7 or 8, count which extreme cards have already been drawn to estimate the remaining deck. If you have seen many low cards, the average remaining card is higher than usual, so lean upward. Card counting in a small finite deck genuinely tilts the odds.
Is my best streak saved?
Yes. Your longest streak is stored in browser local storage and shown above the cards. Beating your record triggers a small celebration. The current streak counter resets when you guess wrong or start a new round, but the best-ever number remains until you clear browser data or play in a different browser.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The cards display large and clear on phones, and the higher and lower buttons are spaced wide enough to avoid accidental taps. There are no swipe gestures to learn. Round time is short, often under a minute, which makes it a perfect quick-play game for short breaks. No install or sign-in is required.
