How do I play tic-tac-toe here?
You play as X and the computer plays O. Click any empty cell on the 3x3 grid to place your mark, and the AI immediately responds with its move. The first player to line up three of their marks horizontally, vertically or diagonally wins. If the grid fills up with no winner the round ends in a draw.
What do the three difficulty levels mean?
Easy makes random moves so beginners can practice and win often. Medium plays sensibly most of the time but occasionally misses a fork or block. Hard uses a minimax algorithm and is genuinely unbeatable, so the best you can hope for against it is a draw. Switch difficulty from the menu before starting a new round.
Can I really beat the unbeatable AI?
No. On Hard the AI evaluates every possible continuation and always chooses the optimal move, which means a perfectly played game will end in a draw. If you make any mistake the AI punishes it immediately. Treat Hard as a puzzle and try to force a draw every time, then practice spotting the same patterns at lower levels.
Who goes first each round?
You always start as X, which is the small advantage human players need against the harder AI. After the round ends, click New Game to reset the board and start again. The score panel keeps a running total of wins, losses and draws for the current session so you can track how often you achieve a draw on Hard.
Are scores remembered between sessions?
The win, loss and draw counts displayed beside the board are kept while the tab is open, so you can play many rounds back to back. Refreshing the page or closing the tab resets the counters to zero. The chosen difficulty also resets to the default, so re-select Hard if you want a fresh challenge.
Does it work on mobile devices?
Yes, the grid scales to your screen and every cell is sized for comfortable tapping. There is no swipe or drag input to learn, just tap the square you want. Phones in portrait mode work best, and the score panel sits below the board so nothing important is hidden. No installation or sign-in is required.
