How do I play Whack-a-Mole?
Moles pop out of holes at random across the board for a brief moment. Click or tap a mole while it is up to whack it and score a point. The moles disappear quickly, so you must react fast. The round lasts 30 seconds and your score is the number of moles you successfully hit before the timer runs out.
Do all moles score equal points?
Most moles are worth one point, but occasionally a golden mole appears and is worth five if you hit it in time. A bomb sometimes pops up and costs you points if you accidentally tap it, so keep your aim accurate. Distinguishing moles from bombs at a glance becomes second nature after a few rounds, especially on smaller screens.
What is the duration of a round?
Rounds last 30 seconds. The timer counts down at the top of the screen, and the game ends with a results screen showing your score and your personal best. New Game starts another 30 second round immediately. The fixed duration keeps things snappy and turns the game into a simple, repeatable challenge for short breaks.
Any strategy tips?
Keep your cursor near the centre of the board so any hole is roughly equidistant. Trust peripheral vision rather than chasing every mole with your eyes. On touch devices use one finger from each hand to cover the left and right halves. Skip a mole that pops up far away if you are about to miss it, because misses do not penalise but wasted seconds do.
Is my high score saved?
Yes. Your highest 30-second score is stored in browser local storage and shown next to the timer at the start of every round. Beating it triggers a small celebration. Clearing browser data resets the record. There is no online leaderboard, so all the competition is between you and your previous best, which keeps things personal and stress free.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, and many players actually prefer it on a touchscreen because tapping with a finger is faster than moving a mouse. The board scales to phone screens, with bigger holes on smaller layouts so accuracy stays manageable. Hold the device with both hands and use both thumbs for the best results, especially on rounds where bombs appear often.
