How does Wordle work here?
You have six attempts to guess a hidden five-letter word. Type a real five-letter word and submit it. Each letter is then coloured. Green means the letter is in the answer and in the right place. Yellow means it is in the answer but in a different position. Grey means it does not appear in the answer at all.
Are guesses limited to real words?
Yes. Random strings or non-words are rejected so you cannot use a guess to fish for letters. The dictionary contains common English five-letter words, including everyday nouns, verbs and adjectives. Plurals ending in S are usually allowed when the singular is not the answer. If your guess is rejected, the row stays empty and your tries are not used up.
What is a good strategy for opening guesses?
Start with a word that contains common vowels and consonants, like CRANE, SLATE or AUDIO. Your second guess should target letters you have not yet tested rather than rearranging known yellows. Save certainty plays for guesses five and six, by which point you should have enough information to lock in the answer or split the remaining candidates.
How often does the puzzle change?
A new puzzle is generated every time you load the page or click New Game, so unlike the once a day version, you can play as many rounds as you like back to back. This makes it great for practice. Your win streak counter resets only when you fail to guess, not when you start a new puzzle voluntarily.
Are stats and streaks saved?
Yes. Your total games played, wins, current streak and best streak are stored in your browser's local storage. A guess distribution chart shows how many of your wins came on each attempt, which is a satisfying way to see if you are getting better. Clearing browser data wipes all of these statistics, so back them up by remembering them.
Is there a hard mode?
A hard mode toggle forces every guess to use any green letters in the same position and to include any yellow letters somewhere. This stops you from wasting a guess on a word that ignores known clues. Most players try normal mode first, then switch to hard mode once consistent six in six wins start feeling too easy.
