How does the workday calculator define a workday?
A workday is any day from Monday to Friday by default. Saturdays and Sundays are excluded automatically. You can also enter holidays as exclusions, and the calculator will skip them in the count. The result tells you how many full working days fall between two dates, which is useful for project deadlines and SLAs.
Does the calculator know my country's public holidays?
Public holidays vary by country, state, and even company, so the calculator does not assume a list. You add the specific dates that should be skipped, which lets you tailor the result for your office. This is the only reliable way to handle multi-country teams where holidays differ.
How does it handle the start and end dates?
You can choose whether to include the start date, the end date, both, or neither. The conventional business definition includes the start date but not the end date when counting working days for delivery, but contracts vary. Pick whichever convention matches your agreement to avoid off-by-one disputes.
What if a project crosses a leap year?
The calculator uses real calendar arithmetic, so leap days are handled automatically. February 29 in a leap year counts as a workday if it falls on a weekday, and is skipped if it falls on a weekend. You do not need to do anything special; the date math is correct in both leap and non-leap years.
Can I count half-days or partial workdays?
No. The calculator works in whole days because that is the standard unit for project planning, payroll cutoffs, and contractual deadlines. If you need to track partial days, calculate the whole days first and then add or subtract the fractional time separately.
Does the calculator handle four-day work weeks or weekend work?
You can usually configure which days count as working days. If your team works Sunday to Thursday (common in the Middle East) or runs a four-day week, set the working days accordingly. The result then reflects your actual schedule rather than the Western Monday to Friday default.
